My friend Virginie imprisoned me one evening ... she pulled it so tight it felt like I had had a face lift! I liked the Alicia Keyes/punk rocker/Trinity/Cleopatra vibes. I felt tougher. Lower maintenance, aerodynamic...but itchy. Happy to prove all the naysayers in my neighborhood wrong- white people's hair CAN be cornrowed! Lasted for a week (got a little smelly). After I took it out my hair was crimped 80s style, and I couldn't resist some head-banging to "Love is a Battlefield" and "Jesse's Girl."
